Depression Is Real Coalition is a group of physician, patient and constituency groups that has come together to create an
educational campaign about depression. These groups are concerned about confusing messages in popular culture suggesting
that depression is "just the blues" or worse, a "made-up disease." The goal of the Coalition is to help people living with
depression, their families, friends and the general public to understand these essential facts about depression.
Dr. Ivan's Depression Central is a central clearinghouse for information on all types of depressive disorders and on the most
effective treatments for individuals suffering from Major Depression, Manic-Depression (Bipolar Disorder), Cyclothymia,
Dysthymia and other mood disorders.
Families for Depression Awareness is a national nonprofit organization helping families recognize and cope with depressive
disorders to get people well and prevent suicides.
International Foundation of Research and Education on Depression (iFred):INSPIRE (Network) primary purpose is to Bring
Depression Hope. iFred brings energy and information together from a variety of existing sources to educate, inform and
change the way we look at depression today.
International Mental Health Research Organization (IMHRO) is committed to funding research and raising awareness to help
people with brain disease, and, ultimately, find cures for schizophrenia, depression and bipolar disorder.
Mood & Anxiety Disorders Institute (MADI) at Mass General Hospital mission is to educate patients, families, caregivers and the
community about mental health conditions in order to increase understanding, instill hope, facilitate recovery, and improve
lives. The Center offers information, resources and support through its web sites, reading materials, support groups, and
seminars for the public – all free of charge. Recent public education programs have featured a broad range of mental health
