Home and Community Based
Services
Home and Community Based Services/Programs are designed to allow an eligible individual to
remain at home versus being placed in an "institution". (ie long-term care hospital, nursing facility,
PRTF)

The following programs
are specifically for individuals with mental health concerns:

Community Alternatives to Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (CA-PRTF)-Program for
youth aged 6-21 years with Serious Emotional Disturbance who are Medicaid eligible, below 150%
of federal poverty level and have a high level of need for intense services. This grant is operated
through the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction. For more information, call 317-233-
3251. Families and youth may receive:
  • Wraparound Facilitation (Service Coordination)
  • Respite
  • Non-medical Transportation
  • Family Support and Training
  • Habilitation
  • Flex Funding

Medicaid Rehabilitation Option (MRO)-Services are provided to Medicaid members and families in
the community who need aid intermittently for emotional disturbances or mental illness. Services
must be accessed through a local community mental health center. Provides home and community
based services, including:
  • Skills Training and Development
  • Case management services
  • Peer Recovery Services
  • Crisis intervention
  • Intensive Outpatient
  • Psychiatric assessment and intervention
  • Child and Adolescent Intensive Resiliency Services
  • Addiction Counseling
  • Medication Training and Support
  • Behavioral Health Counseling and Therapy



The following programs
are not specific to mental health. Medical or developmental conditions
must also exist:

Medicaid Waiver provides services to keep youth at home (versus hospital or residential) that are
not typically covered by Medicaid. A
