Programs
Online Databases provide information on different programs that offer affordable and/or free
medications. Just enter the prescription drug name (Brand or Generic) and a listing of programs will
be provided. Some examples are:
Patient Assistance Programs provide varied discounts on each eligible prescription and are provided
by the pharmaceutical company. Minimum requirements typically include U.S. Citizenship, financial
need and no existing prescription coverage.
- Lilly Cares assists uninsured patients with incomes less than 300 percent of the Federal
Poverty Level. Medication is shipped to the Doctor’s office. Additional information 800-545-

- Merck Prescription Discount Program- If you have no prescription drug coverage and cannot
afford your medicines, you may be eligible for free Merck medicines through the Merck Patient

- Pfizer Friends-Offers many different programs to assist with a variety of situations. For

- Astrazeneca-May offer prescription assistance for a family of four earning $60,000 or less
(individuals earning $30,000 or less). Call 800-424-3727 for information
- Janssen Pharmaceuticals assists patients without adequate financial resources and prescription
coverage in obtaining free products donated by the operating companies of Johnson &

- GlaskoSmithKline patient assistance programs provided medicines to more than 484,000
patients during 2007. "GSK For You" features information on patient assistance programs

- Forest Pharmaceuticals provides certain products to patients who are unable to afford the
cost of their medication and whose income falls below a certain limit. Eligibility is based upon
information you and your licensed practitioner provide on the application form. If approved,

- Sanofi-Aventis assists patients with limited financial resources in accessing needed
medications, focusing on the individual patients and acting as a resource for patients and their
advocates.
- Novartis is proud to offer Patient Assistance Now, an easy to use, comprehensive resource
that allows you to access programs that may help you pay for your medicines. Patient
Assistance Now also includes information about educational programs on a wide range of
conditions, diseases and medicines.
- Abbott Patient Assistance Foundation mission is to enhance patient lives by providing
products to individuals facing financial difficulties who cannot access needed treatment

Rx Outreach for 180-day supply of medication from $20 - $95. There is no cost to participate. Must
be below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level. Contact 800-769-3880
Together Rx-Discount card programs saves between 25%-40% on brand name prescription

Xubex program provides pharmaceutical services to qualified individuals for as low as $20 for a 3
months supply of medication. Also maintains listing of free medication programs and patient
assistance programs.
Access2wellness is designed to assist people with limited or no health insurance get the help they
need to lead healthier lives. Through access2wellness, people can learn about a variety of assistance
programs that, combined, offer more than 1,000 prescription medicines and medical products for
free or at a discount to qualified individuals.
Discount Pharmacy Services provides discounted rates for medications.
- Kmart provides a supply of generic medications for $5 and up. There is no sign up fee and
provides an immediate discount.
- Walmart provides a supply of generic medication for $4.
- Target provides 30/90 day supply of generic medications for $4/$10.
- Kroger provides 30/90 day supply of medication for either $4/$10.
- CVS Health Savings Pass-Annual Fee of $10-Provides 90 day supply for $9.99 on each eligible
medication.
- Walgreens-$20/individual or $35/family annual fee. Provides 90 day supply for $12 on each
eligible medication.
- Meijer-Free Antibiotics, Metformin and Prenatal Vitamins.
