- Safe Families for Children of Indianapolis-Provides volunteers who open their homes to children whose parents
are experiencing a short-term emergency, such as hospitalization or a longer-term crisis such as drug abuse.

- Stopover-Provides a 24-hour crisis line for youth, adults and referring agents. Counseling is provided for youth
ages 11-18, and their families. Emergency shelter is provided for youth ages 13-17. Emergency shelter is

- Gene Glick Family Support Center-(Children's Bureau) provides shelter to youth who have run away, are
homeless, are victims of or witness domestic violence, whose parents are experiencing a housing crisis, whose
parents are experiencing a mental or physical crisis or are at risk of abuse or neglect.
- Visiting Nurse Service Crisis Nursery-Provides short-term respite relief for parents of children birth-12 years

- Township Trustee-May assist eligible township residents with food, medical care, clothing, household goods,
shelter, school clothing, utilities, limited transportation, fuel oil, coal, and burial expense.
- Energy Assistance.
- Salvation Army offers financial assistance to residents in specific areas of Marion and Hamilton County; may
help with housing costs (rent/mortgage), utilities, medical or prescription co-pays or transportation (vehicle

- Family Services Ways to Work Loan Program provides low interest loans to families with children to help pay for
things to help them stay on the job or in school. There are several criterion to qualify and limitations of usage.

- Children’s Bureau Neighborhood Alliance for Child Safety works to strengthen families and prevent child abuse.

- Prevail provides educational and informational presentations and training regarding child abuse/neglect,
domestic violence and children, substance abuse and children, trauma and children, parenting and discipline,

- Witham Health Services provides at home drug testing kits for parents/guardians. Testing is confidential. The
kits come with a list of treatment programs and counseling services. Kits are available to non-Boone County

- Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department-Stop and Think-Provides students in grades 6 through 9 in Marion
County the opportunity to get a glimpse of what life is like in the Marion County Jail. Contact 317-327-1320
- Indianapolis Fire Department Fire Stop-Provides education that is incident and age appropriate to children who
have exhibited a curiosity to play with or set fires. A fire risk analysis is completed to identify those children
who are at risk of repeating this dangerous behavior. The family may be referred for additional counseling to

- Facing Adolescent Challenges Together (FACT)-Provides an educational program for youth 10-17 years old.
Interactive activities cover drug facts, decision making, victim impact, and medical, legal, and financial

- Educating Kids about Gun-violence (EKG) is a youth gun-violence education and prevention program. EKG
works to prevent youth gun violence by educating students about the legal, medical, and emotional

- Project Impact targets first- and second-time offenders 9-17 and their families. Program provides counseling
(individual and group), computer training, life skills, job training, school drop-out prevention, tutoring and

- Drug Free Marion County is comprised of concerned citizens dedicated to preventing and reducing the negative
consequences from the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in Marion County.
- Homeless & ReEntry Helpers Resource Center (HRH) is a web site for those in need, their; case workers,
service providers, parole & probation officers, pastors, mentors, and volunteers, landlords, and businesses
who help those in need, we call "Our HELPERS".
- Next Step Programs is a division of the Fletcher Place Ministry. The first program, Survival Skills, is a ten-week
series of seminars that teach basic day-to-day life skills. Upon graduation from Survival Skills, computer
training, writing workshops and job placement assistance are available. Each series of seminars can

- Public Advocates in Community Re-Entry (PACE) provides services exclusively to individuals with felony
convictions. PACE seeks to provide services and resources to enable those returning citizens to become law

- Afternoons R.O.C.K is an exciting after school drug prevention program for youth, ages 10-14 years. Program
to provide Recreation, Object lessons, Culture and values and Knowledge via active and entertaining focused
and supportive prevention activities designed to teach youth about social and media influences, conflict
resolution and refusal/resistance skills, gang and violence prevention, and the structuring of leisure time to be

- Christamore House Family and Community-Indianapolis Westside-Social services are offered to assist families
locate resources. Youth 15-25 who are not in high school: ARISE program helps them gain valuable job skills
training; YES program helps them achieve education, employment and/or training. Youth in grades 9-12 may
participate in the T.O.P. which includes tutoring, mentoring, college visits, leadership training, and service
learning programs. Asante Children’s Theater uses the three basic genres of performing arts (theatre, music,
dance and storytelling) to develop the life skills of young people ages 12 to 21; boxing; provides tutoring for

Paws and Think matches at-risk youth with canines to enhance the lives of adults and children with special needs.
Program serves youth who are academically or behaviorally challenged; incarcerated; at-risk of suicide; pregnant and
single; or who lack a positive self-image.
Jack's DOGs was formed to provide therapy through interaction with our trained therapy dogs. We work and play
with people of all ages who have Alzheimer's, bipolar disorder, Autism, and physical, emotional, and spiritual
challenges.
VSA Arts of Indiana (VSAI) has led the movement to make the arts accessible to people with disabilities. Offers a
variety of opportunities for people with disabilities of all ages to engage the power of the arts as a means of
education, creative self-expression, and personal and professional growth.
Hope's Way is a central Indiana nonprofit recreation center whose mission is to provide a cost-free place of
recreation and respite for special needs children and their families from under-served communities. Our “special
needs” umbrella includes children who are: At risk, Health impaired, Physically disabled, Developmentally disabled,

St. Mary’s Child Center provides half-day program for children 3-5 years at risk of developmental delays and/or
emotional problems. Transportation can be provided; sliding scale fees and family services. Contact 317-635-1491
Virtual Scavengers collects, refurbishes and sells computers; provides training classes and apprenticeships in pc
technology, electronic waste management, and social entrepreneurship; allows individuals within the community to
earn a free computer after 20 hours of learning how to maintain and upgrade it. Contact 317-917-9111
Dawn Project coordinates services for youth with emotional and behavioral problems, youth that are multi-system
involved and youth with functional impairments. Referrals must come from Marion County Dept. of Child Services,
probation office, IPS or Department of Education.
